The only place I could find in my old apartment where there was 20 feet of unobstructed space all in a straight line was the attic. Several months and many cases of Pabst later, the boat came out a 24"x20" dormer window (using pulleys attached at the roof of the house and the roof of the garage to lower my baby to the ground). It can be done.
