yes to reduced cost, but frugal use of epoxy is also a very effective method. There are a lot of methods for controlling set-up times that work, heat,different epoxies. I think if you have large epoxy fillet then you can't count on bonding with polyester.

So, low cost, but everything else should also be low cost to keep the cost low.
