Cape Charles thoughts

Posted by: Mike Scarborough on November 22, 1999

I don't think the Cape Charles is still sold as a kit, although the plans are still available. The Chesapeake line of boats is the successor to the Cape Charles. That said, I have a Cape Charles and it is the easiest paddling boat I have ever been in. It tracks well yet turns easily. It responds to boat lean very well. It is comfortable to sit in for a long time. It is relatively fast. The only flaw that I have found is that there is very little volume near the bow, so it tends to bury in waves.
