Hi Dave, Thanks The deck fittings are made from a piece of mohogany 3/4" thick and 2- 1/4" sq. I made a jig to cut a rabet with a 1-1/2" I.D. using a 3/8" dado bit. the inner ID was cut 9/16"deep x 1-1/8" dia. using a 1" round nose bit. The trick is to make a donut shaped template that fits in the template from the out rabet in order to keep them concentric. My jig was made from 3/4" plywood 15" sq. with a square hole in the middle to hold the mohogany blank. The inner cut was tuff I wasted a buch before I got it right. Make several shallow cuts otherwise the router grabs when you Make that small a circle with a 1" bit. I made them up starting with a 1/4" deep rabet based on deck thickness and then fine tuned them to fit after drilling the hole. The holes were drilled with a 1-1/2 fostner bit and the fitting were put in before mating the deck and hull. The cross pieces were glued in the same time as I put the whole piece in the boat. I cut the notch with a table saw right through the middle of the fitting. This may be all hard to understand, maybe when I figure out how to put a sketch in my web page I'll post one here.
