Thanks everyone for you input. Right now it look like I'll go with a sabre saw, but have access to a band saw, so may try it. The roto-zip would make a nice addition to the work shop, but would be hard to control the cut.

I'm planning on starting my boat (Merganser by Shearwater Boats) shortly after the first of the year. I'll keep you posted (have started a web page).
