on carrying capacity

Any kayak, no matter how low-volume, has more room in it than a backpack. I found my Arctic Tern to be too big for me (I'm 5'10", 185#) so I'm in the process of building a lower-voume strip boat. I still plan on doing the week-long camping trips like you are, I just won't be bringing a hibachi;-) I attached a link and picture of the stitch-and-glue Greenland-style kayak that plans are available for in the Fall '94 issue of Sea Kayaker magazine. Back-issues are available if you're interested. The boat is 18' x 21.5".
