Hi Gary:

I also kept the cove and bead on my Guillemot Expedition Single. I found it useful when it came time mate the deck to the hull. I was utterly certain when the two halves were aligned. I will say it took considerable force to align them, but that was not a bead/cove vs planed flat issue. Check the archives for posts on that subject.

I also glassed right past the edge of both the deck and the hull. This is the only way to do it, as far as I am concerned. I had no difficulty with the glass or resin messing up the bead or cove. I recommend you trim the overhanging glass while green, maybe only several hours after applying it. I used a new sharp utility knife to cut the glass flush with the edge of the wood.

I used machine made 6 oz tape inside and out, two layers, and it went on nicely, and really clear. Recent posts here talked about using a cabinet scraper to smooth out the bumps and drips and runs. That is good advice.
