Gary, I say keep the bead and cove. That's what I did on my Expedition Single. Why shave off what would become a nice mechanical joint. The bead and cove helps in aligning the deck to hull, and provides more surface area for gluing. Cleaning the bead and cove is a piece of cake if you do it before the epoxy cures. I let my cloth extend beyond the edge of the shear strip 1 inch or so. Most excess resin was stopped, or soaked in by that extra inch. Very, VERY little resin ended up on/in the bead/cove, to my surprise. Post-cure slop was removed from the bead with a hand plane, from the cove with a small round file.

Seems that many builders feel the bead and cove should be removed. I can't figure out why.
