The best is the Hobie Mirage

Posted by: puddlepeddler on December 2, 1999

You can check it out at their web site: http://www.hobiecat.com/mirage/default.html

It does not use a bicycle crank/sprocket the system is a cable/chain/cam system that is very simple and efficient. A Mirage vs. a paddled kayak, given similar physically able operators will outrun the paddler - and for a longer period (legs have more power AND stamina). When you operate the Mirage with pedals AND paddle (dual power) it there is no contest it flat gets it on! I like it as you can fish while you are moving (the Mirage has an integrated a rudder system).
