2 questions on the fairing stage:
1) How long did you guys spend on the 'fairing' stage? I don't know if I'm being too retentive or if I'm not being retentive enough. I would especially appreciate a response from Ross -- this would represent the upper limit of retentiveness ;-) So far I've probably spent 6 hours with a block plane and spokeshave and tested out the sanding with the long fairing board, which seems to go pretty quickly w/ 80-grit.
2) Most of my boat is white cedar, and I am having a bit of trouble really seeing the contours as I plane/sand. Does anyone have any advice? I have a variety of lamps, so I think the lighting is good, but I have yet to get some alcohol (for the boat, that is.) I assume this is plain ol' isopropyl alcohol? I want to avoid any surprises (bumps/dips) when I get to the 'glassing stage...
Thanx in advance,
Dean
