I think this is a new twist on old flush fitting idea:
Consider if you will the standard nylon-web-loop type of deck fitting, a la CLC boats, et. al. What if, instead of attaching the loop off to the side of the deck line, you ran the deck line right over the top of the screw? Make a small loop, small enough that only 2 or 3 bungees can go through, and install a screw and washer from the inside poking out. To drive the screw, you would have to force the webbing aside a bit, or use a soldering iron to melt a hole through the webbing just big enough to get the screwdriver tip in. I think that this would be great to form 'guide loops' that keep the longer deck lines in place, and you wouldn't have the tab sticking off to the side.
