I bought a 3-gallon epoxy kit (wasn't much more than 2 gallons) with the no-blush hardener. I have not tried it yet, so I can't comment on its quality. Jay Babina uses it on the Outer Island kayaks he designs -- I'm building one. I had heard some good comments about Raka epoxy a while back on this BBS. Apparently it's a bit thinner, so it wets out fiberglass cloth better. I used System Three on my Pygmy Arctic Tern with good results. My overlapped seams didn't turn out well, which could be due to being thicker than Raka (conjecture), but could also be 'operator error.'
I also bought 72"-wide 6-oz. standard fiberglass cloth for the whole boat, as well as wood flour and colloidal silica (cabosil.) Total came to $250 or so.
I had originally intended to go with multiple thin-glass lay-ups, but chickened out in the end and went with the standard 6-oz. I've done one stitch-n-glue with a standard lay-up, now I'm building a stripper with a standard lay-up; I'm thinking my next boat will be a low-volume stitch-n-glue that I'll use the thin-cloth lay-up on in a 'how light can I make it' experiment...
