Re: Tiny Strip Clamping Tip

Posted by: Shawn Baker on December 11, 1999

I've been using 2" or 3" strips and screwing the scrap to the form with short bugle-head screws. You can really snug the strip down with them.

I'm not doing 100% staple-less construction, but I am doing about 90% staple-free on my Guillemot 18. So far, I've avoided staples on all the middle forms, and I've used some tiny finish nails on the upswept bow and stern. I think the boat has 7 staples so far, and I've done 6 strips on either side.
