Guillemot kids version

Posted by: addison m. on December 11, 1999

I am starting a kayak for my son to paddle ..(he's 10). His last boat was a CLC Mill Creek 13 (13' x 29") and I am thinking of doing a 14' version on the Guillemot but widening the boat to 24" for extra stability for the kids. I am looking for feedback on two potential problems.

a) Is this boat going to sit so high in the water that it won't track at all ? It will primarily be a flat water lake and river boat.

b)Adjusting the spacing of the forms per Nick's book will make the end forms substantially closer (about 4" instead of 6"). Will the combination of a wider boat and closer form spacing make the bow and stern too hard to strip ?
