Try a wallpaper steamer - the thing you use (or some people use) to get wallpaper to loosen its grip on the wall. They usually have an external tank that holds the water, a hose leading from the tank to the steam end. The steam end is usually rectangular with holes in it - like the sole of an iron - plug it in, fill it up with water, give it a few minutes and steam away. You can rent commercial ones in South Carolina for around $15 per day or buy a cheaper one at Wal Mart. The commercial ones work very well - they'll steam the skin right off your hand.
