how to best refinish wooden kayak

Posted by: Anthony Belcher on December 17, 1999

I have a wooden sea kayak that needs to have old varnish and paint removed. How is it best to do this without delaminating or removing the fiberglass underneath?

Next I need to repair several areas where the fiberglass fibers have started showing thru the epoxy. How can this be done?

Finally if I ever get the boat's varnish off and the fiberglass repaired I want to finish the boat to a mirror like show finish. Ideas appreciated.
