It might be easiest to visually compare it to some known 6oz cloth. You could take a sample with you to a local boating supply store and see how it looks beside a piece of 6oz cloth. The problem with weighing what you have is that the 6oz is for a square yard of cloth, and cutting lengths of 1.5-2 inch tape to get a measurable amount could be a little wasteful.

Equally important, though, is whether or not the cloth is epoxy compatible. Wet out a small sample to verify.
