Dean,
Glad to hear that you like the smell of cedar - who doesn't, eh? But about that epoxy, there is something I need to know. Obviously, I have yet to use the stuff, but from all that I have read, I am getting close to the paranoid stage. So, a little challenge to you all - let's play 'decribe the smell of epoxy'.(NOT directly from the bottle....) The reason for this is that I plan to put the forms onto the strongback and all that later this week and I am still a little unsure as to which of my two choices of building space to select. Door #1 - a little cramped and is on the second floor, but does come with amenities such as electricity, heat, water, fridge, and toilet (seems to be in some order of importance..). Problem is, there are significant others involved. Door #2 is dark, very cold, windy, has NO heat.Fortunately, ventilation is not a problem with this second option.
So you see, I need to know how much wrinkle this stuff will put in the average nose. I figured that, as the illustrations in the latest Sea Kayaker mag. show a builder applying epoxy without using any nasal 'protection', it can't be all that bad, for smell. I won't be actually applying epoxy while anyone else is around because of comments about danger of fumes, but how long do the fumes remain? I will have several 2-3 day periods in the late winter during which I can apply epoxy. The room is painted cement walls and ceiling, tile floor, and has large windows.
So all you epoxy pro's, does it sound like I can go with door #1 and not suffer any consequences? I am really not into the cold...
