I have used 1/4" x 3/4"cedar on my first canoe , 1/8"x 5/16" ash on my kayak, and 3/16" x 3/4"cedar on the canoe I am now building , I won't go back to using 1/4" unless it's a special application , I would definitly use the 3/16" again on my next boat, you get more strips per board ,save weight, easy to bend, easy to shape . The jury is still out on the 1/8" ash, have too see how it stands up to another season, bit on the heavy side could have used it just on the bottom instead of the whole boat, would have saved a few pounds.
just checked the temp -10 F
