Sounds like you have the purpleheart from the description on Windsor Plywood's site it's not purple when first cut. I saw some of this in Windsor plywood last week and was tempted at $4.99 lin ft canadian, the four foot piece was staring back at me ,but Instead I just left with some oak . the purpleheart will probably look great under epoxy. follow the link below and click "tropical woods" they have it listed and its properties too. It'll be hard to top your last boat, be sure and post some pics when you start stripping.
