I have in the past turned som cabinet pulls, and other small objects out of African Purple Heart. The wood came from the scrap bin of a local Sauna builder. The wood is purple only after it has oxidized, and varies in color when freshly cut, (usually lighter and not purple).

I know that if you let it age it turns purple, but what I wonder more is how it will work with epoxy. I remember it being fairly oily. Maybe Nick, or someone on the BBS would know.
