Re: Sea kayaking books

Posted by: Shawn Baker on December 22, 1999

Well, Pete, I guess we're all just too radical for the mainstream reader!

As far as sea kayaking books go, I like John Dowd's book the best. The best book for any sea kayaking library is probably "Fundamentals of Kayak Navigation". It's more specialized than the general books, but it goes into so much valuable detail on navigation that it is really a great book. You can pick up the general content of most of the basic books, just by talking with other kayakers. Some are waaay too general.

I know what book you were referring to--you'd think they'd at least give the wood boat a nod after photographing it.

Merry Christmas, Shawn
