builder's ethics

Posted by: Tom Kurth on December 25, 1999

Merry Christmas everybody!

Recently I visited another boatbuilding site and read part of a discussion about using published study plans to build from without remunerating the designer. I'd first like to hear from anyone who knows what is actually legal. Then I'd like to hear from some of the designers about their feelings. It seems to me that when someone like Nick publishes his designs in book form that whoever buys the book should be able to build for his own use. How about it, Nick? Do you feel cheated if someone builds from your book without buying the full-size plans? Regards, Tom
