Re: builder's ethics

Posted by: Mike Scarborough on December 26, 1999

Tom-- You've managed to spark a lively discussion. I see two ways to evaluate the ethical dilemmas confronted when we use a designer's plans. One is to do only those things that can be defended by a lawyer in a courtroom. UGGH! The other is evaluate our actions as honorable Ladies & Gentlemen, as suggested by Rhed. If we reach an agreement with a designer, give our word that we will keep that agreement, and shake hands, we should have something that is more powerful than anything that can be decided in a courtroom.

I will always use the latter criteria to choose my course of action.
