You'd be a true trooper if you hand bead AND coved all of the strips necessary for one of my canoes!!!! let's see.... about 84 strips x 18' for the cove and the same for the bead equals 3024 feet. You would have to go over the strips at least 6 or 8 times for a grand total of roughly 24000 feet which is about 4 miles of scraping and planing. Borrow a router and buy the bits for 39.95, about an hour or so and your done. I do think however that the tool is an excellent idea for furniture and such. Often times I find the router just to obnoxious. The detail, precision, and rewards of hand machining are well worth the extra few minutes to me.... BUT to hand machine this many feet of lumber would put far too many chest hairs on me :-) Doug
