Hatch hold downs

I am building a 18' Cedar strip Sea Kayak and am at the point where I need equipment to hold the hatch covers on. The 2 choices that I know about are pull down buckles, and flip back buckles.

1) Which is best? 2) How are they attached to the deck? Is it as easy as gluing them on? 3) Where can I buy them?
