Just started building a CLC Chesapeake LT16 with (and for) my wife - thanks to some helpful input from the folks on this BBS last month. Almost have the hull stitching completed. My question is about whether to use the plywood bulkheads that came with the kit or use minicell foam. I'm leaning towards minicell for reasons I'll illuminate below, but would appreciate any comments on whether my assumptions hold water (pun intended!).
Reasons to use minicell instead of plywood:
(1) lighter weight (2) easier to work with (3) can cut them to fit anywhere in the hull and would like to make the
forward section larger for increasing bouyancy and minimizing the
intake of water in the case of a capsize. My wife, at 5'2" won't need
that much legroom. (4) puts less stress on the hull and deck
Does this make sense? Anything else I should be considering that I've overlooked?
Thanks, Peter (remove NS from beginning of my email address if you wish to mail me directly)
