Re: cracks in hull

Posted by: lee on January 3, 2000

hi steve, haven't built one,but my common sense tells me that things crack when over stressed. My S&G kayak has a barely visible crack from heavy use. My glass boat has cracks from improper portaging and heavy use. I've seen carbon/kevlar boats crunched. I don't think a stripper has inherent weaknesses such as "deck cracking". Most long skinny, elliptical cross-section things like kayaks will develop cracks at the midsection when crushed by a big wave, then again so will the paddler. never heard of this one.
