Kevin,
Good luck building the new boat. I wasn't even aware there was a Guillemot "L". I'm sure we'll all be interested in building reports and (down the road) a first launch report.
Yes, I did use CBK strips on my Panache. Peter Schultz was very helpful in color matching the milled strips, the wood was first-rate, and the strips were packaged well and arrived without damage. However, after using the strips, I wasn't too crazy about the "high-center" milled profile. It's true that this may make fairing easier on the outside, convex surfaces, but on the interior, concave surfaces, they had the opposite effect. And the inside is where it's most difficult to fair. Also, when laying the strips, you need to be careful to push the center of the strip against the form, not either edge, otherwise you'll get an accordian effect. It's subtle, but you still need to watch for it.
I believe that John Waddington bought strips from CBK as well and was able to get them milled flat (although, I think they were re-milled strips that came in at 3/16". Correct, John?)
Hope that helps,
Ross
