I didn't know about that design either. My friend and I were looking for a boat that turned easier than the Expedition Single, but not as easy as the Guillemot (we never paddled either one, but that's all of the complaints we kept reading). I've seen the Guillemot and it looked too small for me to get into easily. After reading from Shawn Baker that he was stretching it to 18', we decided that was the way to go. We drew up the Guillemot from the book on the computer and then printed everything at 18/17 (6%) larger. He's got the forms and strongback all cut out and is setting up to start stripping it.

When I get my triple done (many eons from now), I was going to start building one too. When it's all done, it should be similar to the one Nick has minus the modifications he made. Maybe I'll have to bring it to the West Coast rendezvous and let others compare it to the Exp Single and Guillemot that they've paddled.

If Nick builds one of his L design, I'd like to know how it compares.

Dale
