I have also built a Putz Kayak and every thing went well except for the floor beams. It was frustrating and time consuming. Now that I discovered the stitch and glue technique, I don't think I will go back to the Putz method. If I built another skin on frame kayak, I will use the plywood ribs and "stringers?" method. Anyway, for the epoxy I used, as suggested by Putz in his book, the 5 minutes Epoxy Syringe sets. You can find them in any hardware store. They are fast bonding and work below 0 Celsius. It took a little bit less than four sets to complete the 17ft version (about 18 $ Canadian).
Good Luck
