I build outside on my deck, or in my driveway. I have no shade and tend to sweat on hot days. Between workd sessions I cover things with a plastic tarp.

My strip canoe took two summers to build. The first summer i did the strips, the second summer I finally could afford the glass cloth and epoxy. During the intervening seasons I moved the whole strongback, with frames and stripped hull still attached, into my garage.

There were a few nights when the tarp blew off during rainstorms and the whole setup got very wet. I had to sand out a few rust stains from the brads and staples, but the wood was OK, and the (non waterproof) carpenters glue joints held.

I have had to battle bugs in the resin and finish coats, and sunburn. I strongly suggest you get a cheap tarp or dining fly and set it up to provide some shade, and some pretection from precipitation.
