Re: skin on frame lots of questions

Posted by: Tom Kurth on January 12, 2000

Hey Quent, I'm currently building the 18.5 Putz. I've detailed elsewhere on this board my wood selection. As an avid woodworker I've got piles littering the back yard and a shop full of tools and scraps. Point: As Putz points out, most of the frame will be covered so anything that's strong enough, light enough, pretty enough, cheap enough and available enough to suit you is appropriate which means for me that the frame was quite cheap. It's completed now and the total bill is about $27.00. Bear in mind that I have epoxy, fasteners, linseedc oil, etc.lying around in addition to all the wood. Right now I'm trying to decide what materials to use for thecovering--I don't think I'll get by so cheap on this part. Good luck.

Tom
