Strip Built Boat Plans

Plans for building strip-built boats. "Strip building", (sometimes known as strip-planked, wood strip, or cedar strip) is a fault tolerant method to build a boat. You bend thin strips of wood around forms, gluing the strips together as you cover the forms. You then sand the strips smooth and coat them with a layer of tough, transparent fiberglass cloth and epoxy. The result is a beautiful, strong and lightweight boat.

Nick Schade has been designing and building cedar strip boats since 1986, and is the author of two books on the subject. These original designs draw on the years of experience to create unique high performance designs that move easily on the water as well as look stunning on land.
