S&G Guillemot

This is the kayak that introduced me to the world of kayaking. Rather than buying a ready-made plastic or fiberglass kayak, I thought it would be an excitement to build one out of wood. Thanks to Nick for such good designs!
With the upswept bow, it rolls fairly easily over the waves, making the waves of Aegean Sea fun to play with. I added an electric bilge pump in order to empty the kayak easily in rough conditions. You can spot the pump switch in front of the cockpit and the chrome outlet at the back. On the top is my Greenland paddle, which I carved out of beech wood.

This is my S&G Guillemot built in 2004 and still giving me a great deal of pleasure each time I use it .

same kayak as picture #1 I always get comments and questions when I paddle it :)
I may put up some more pictures-if I can find them. I really like the Guillemot design.
If I build another I'm looking at reducing the dimensions by 6% and going with lighter wood too. Thank you Nick for this design!!!

Built about 4 years ago. I'm considering building another out of better plywood.
It's a little heavy, because I used 1/4" locally available plywood, but a great design and quite fast too!!
