This year will be the 20th Annual Blackburn Challenge the east coast's premier open water human-powered boat race. There is usually a good turn out of home-made kayaks and other boats competing in this race. I plan to enter with my Mystery. If you are looking for a chance to challenge yourself on a 20 mile excursion around Cape Ann, Massachusetts, this is a fun event.

I will be exhibiting my boats again this year at the prestigious Washington Craft Show. I plan on bringing my new Nymph double paddle canoe and a Petrel sea kayak.

Nick will be talking to the woodworkers in Rochester, NY at the Rochester Woodworkers Society about building boats.

On Jan. 19th and 20th Nick will be presenting to the Rochester Woodworkers Society in Rochester, NY. Friday evening will be a slide show of his work and general overview and on Saturday there will be an all day workshop. RWS does charge a modest admission price to offset some the our costs for bringing speakers to town: the Friday night lecture is free to members, $5 for non-members, and the workshop is $40 for members and $50 for non-members. The price even includes your lunch. Go to the Rochester Woodworkers Society website for registration information.

Nick will be doing a presentation at the Woodworkers Guild of Rhode Island monthly meeting. The talk will includes a slide presentation of some of the methods for building kayaks with wood.
